After we came back from training in Southeast Asia Effective Communication Training held by IDEA (International Debate Education Association), in Chiang Mai of Thailand, We have an idea: to create the Debate Club to share with others. Now, we have opened the Debate Club to share with other students of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, Department of Media and Communication (RUPP/DMC) on what we have learn during our participation in Camp. Our group has six core members such as Tith Chandara, Chân Sovannara, Lang Mesa, Ngoeuom Phally, Ou Banung, and Khun Nayheak.
We are especially honored that our debating club has two international debaters, which are Chirada Suwan and another European from IDEA who came to train all of those students on how to become good debaters. In addition, we appreciate their valuable time to come to train our club members on debating for a few days in Phnom Penh.
We started our first day on 3rd of January 2012. Our club has approximately 20 students joining the club. Furthermore, all of those students, they have many comments and they bring their effort in wanting to study how to debate very much. The class was quite active in terms of sharing and studying with our group members. Our studying session are also accompanied with the games.
A girl was sitting the first row with a smiling-face. Ms. Leng Len is a year two student from Batch 10 of the Department of Media and Communication (DMC). She showed her feelings of really wanting to study debating. She said that “I want to become an international debater and I think that it is a good time for me to improve my debate skill by participating in this Debate Club”.
Here are the other photos of what happened on that day:
